NOTRE DAME, Ind. --- Squaring off against NAIA No. 19-ranked Holy Cross College on Saturday afternoon, the University of St. Francis women's tennis team fell 4-0 in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Holy Cross (4-4, 1-0 CCAC) used a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles combined with a forfeit win in the No. 3 slot to go up 1-0 after doubles play. USF was leading 3-2 at No. 1 doubles when play was stopped.
The hosts also swept singles action with 6-0, 6-0 victories at the Nos. 4 and 5 positions, combined with a forfeit win at No. 6. The only singles match in which the Saints (1-4, 0-1) were leading came in the No. 2 spot, where
Gabriella Noa took the first set of her match 6-2 before the contest was halted.
