LOCKPORT, Ill. --- The University of St. Francis men's tennis team captured two of three doubles matches, but Judson University rallied in singles play to claim a 4-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Friday night at Challenge Fitness.
In a doubles contest that took nearly one hour to complete, the Fighting Saints (3-11, 1-2 CCAC) gained the first point of the match with a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5) victory by
Ignacio Hernandez and
Paul Wottgen at No. 1.
Prior to that, the two teams split their first two doubles matches with
Sebastian Bahamondes and
Aidan Flores recording a 7-5 win at No. 2. Judson (6-11, 1-1) won the other match by a 6-0 count.
In singles play, Judson registered the sweep of the four matches completed. The Eagles won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Saints are in Milwaukee on Tuesday at noon to face No. 19 Cardinal Stritch University. Â
